DSP (Interiors) Ltd has worked alongside Hexagon Metrology Ltd and MEPC to construct the highly anticipated metrology facility located within the Innovation Centre at Silverstone Park in Northampton.
Hexagon is a global leader in digital solutions, combining sensor, software and autonomous technologies and has approximately 23,000 employees across 50 countries. The company enables manufacturers to access, analyse and actively leverage data form all key stages of the manufacturing process to empower better decision-making.
The catalyst for the project was to create a metrology facility that would be accessible to the advanced manufacturing centre based on Silverstone Park and the wider area, enabling them to inspect, validate and quality control components and prototypes.
The facility will be particularly useful for both start-up businesses and the broad range of automotive giants on the park, including Formula 1 teams on-site.
DSP managed the initial space planning and systems design and specification, then carried out a variety of works including the construction of a precision inspection workshop with viewing gallery corridor, meeting rooms, customer lounge, communal areas, and new tea point.
Enabling works for the precision inspection workshop included the installation of solid partitions and frameless glass partitions, along with a new double glazed external entrance with ramp to withstand heavy machinery, alterations to existing computer floor and the
installation of resin floor finish, as well as raising ceiling levels in areas for machinery.
We also carried out the design, specification and installation of mechanical and electrical services, plus dry lining, joinery works and decoration.
Ancillary works included alterations to services such as airlines, power, data, lighting, fire detection, air conditioning and wet heating system.
