DSP (Interiors) Ltd Fit Out New Speculative Unit for Heating and Plumbing Specialists

We recently completed the refit of a new unit for heating and plumbing specialists, HPS Ltd on Ivygrove Developments’ new Dunstall Park Road scheme in Derby.

HPS had been based at Derby City Council’s iHub innovation centre on Infinity Park for a number of years but were forced to vacate their workspace to make way for the city’s new Nuclear Skills Academy, a partnership between Derby City Council, Rolls-Royce, and the University of Derby.

The Council commissioned us to support the company’s move to a new unit at Dunstall Park Road off Ascot Drive in the city.

Our considerable experience in designing, managing, and installing turnkey projects of this nature was essential in order to meet the extremely tight timescales required.

HPS is a family business, which was founded in 1972 by Phillip Dashley. Over the past 50 years it has established an enviable reputation for delivering high-quality services to clients across the region.

The unit, which was a core base build, needed an extensive fit out to meet HPS’ specific needs and provide a workspace that would accommodate both its office and site-based activities.

We have transformed the speculative unit with a bespoke design and fit out including the installation of a storage mezzanine floor and the installation of a new first floor office and amenity.

To accommodate their staff, we enclosed the first floor to create an office – this included installing fire rating, partitions, ceilings, flooring, decoration a new staircase, dry-lining and new external window. The first-floor office area also included a toilet fit out and the installation of a tea point.

A high durability resin floor, further cleaners’ sink area and additional equipment was installed within the warehouse space to accommodate all the required storage and support day-to-day operations.

In addition, we designed and installed all the required electrical, air conditioning, extraction, plumbing, CCTV, data, intercom, intruder alarms and fire detection systems.

We liaised closely with the client to ensure all the equipment within the warehouse space had the correct supplies and was catered for.

The fit out, from design through to specification and completion, was undertaken by our specialist team. This ensured the build was delivered as efficiently as possible and within budget to ensure the speedy completion that was required – and all to the highest standards.

Commenting on the project for HPS Ltd, Andy Priestley, director of DSP (Interiors) Ltd, said:

It has been a pleasure to work with Peter Dashey and his team to design and fit out their new unit for HPS at Dunstall Park Road.

We have worked in partnership with the company to turn an empty shell into a space that meets their specific individual needs and provides them with a functional and attractive workplace for their staff.

Peter Dashey, director of HPS, added:

We are delighted with the facility that the empty shell has become and would recommend DSP to any business looking to develop their premises into a dynamic space, with thought to efficiency of space and layout.

The fit out has provided us with a modern and functional space that meets our specific needs. We have been really impressed with the professionalism and expertise DSP (Interiors) have shown throughout the project.

Ann Bhatti, head of Connect Derby, who managed the relocation project for Derby City Councill, said:

Many thanks to Andy and his team for their first-class work on this project for HPS. They demonstrated a high level of professionalism was throughout the entire process.

They played a crucial role in addressing various challenges and demonstrated their expertise gained from their extensive experience in past construction and fit-out projects. Their guidance and solutions were invaluable.
